There are flats in a 4-storey (GF, and 1F to 3F) building whose floor to floor height is 3.2m. The first-floor plan is provided in a separated pdf file which can be downloaded from blackboard. All walls are of concrete construction, 0.2m in thickness. Floor to ceiling height is 3.0m and all doors are 2m in height. Stair door at the ground floor opens to the ambient air. Other stair doors to the
corridor are assumed to be open with a 0.2m wide gap. There is a 1m² open vent on top of the stair.
A fire happens in a flat, see the drawing. The fire is assumed to be t-squared of medium class, starting from the middle of the room and spreading to the whole floor area. Its max heat release rate density is 250kW/m²,
The fire room door is closed at the starting of the fire, opened at 300s, and closed again at 320s. The fire room has a window, 1.2m in height, 1.0m in width, lower side 1.2m above floor. This window is assumed to become open at 320s after the fire starts.
(a) Write FDS script for the geometric domain necessary to simulate this fire and the mesh is of 0.1m elements. If some dimensions are missed in pdf file you can measure them from the drawing in the drawing scale (calculate yourself)
(b) Setup the fire in the script, run the script for this fire simulation of 600seconds and clearly present the results
(c) Analyse and discuss the simulated results from the point of view of fire safety
