Over the years, he has overseen the development of various software as the CTO and has secured hundreds of clients for the company. He has a base salary of R10 million. As the chief software developer, he is entitled to a 10% commission on the sales arising from the software that he develops. His other normal perks include: a) a driver and a company vehicle. b) payment of school fees for his children c) top of the range laptop and cellphone, and a R5 000 airtime and data allowance. At an executive meeting in December 2023, Mike clashed with Stan, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company. Since then, Mike has lost the confidence of the CEO and has experienced some significant changes to his employment conditions. He has been told that he is no longer entitled to a basic salary and will henceforth work only on a commission basis. His driver and company vehicle have been revoked. The payment of fees for his children has been halved and he has been asked to use his own laptop and cellphone for work purposes. He has vowed to soldier on and has not contemplated resigning.
