Fines and penalties that apply for non-compliance with requirements of the TDGR – Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations – are significant, and may include:
a. A fine of $500,000 for the first offence or $1,000,000 for the second and subsequent offences, and up to two years in jail; an employee, officer of the company, agent of the company, and/or the company itself may be subject to penalty.
b. A stern talking to, and a small fine.
c. A fine of $5,000 for the first offence or $10,000 for the second and subsequent offences, and up to one year in jail; an employee, officer of the company, agent of the company, and/or the company itself may be subject to penalty.
d. A fine of $50,000 for the first offence or $100,000 for the second and subsequent offences, and up to two years in jail; an employee, officer of the company, agent of the company, and/or the company itself may be subject to penalty.
