Please write one full paragraph about your fieldwork experience and how you own cultural norms, stereotypes, biases and assumptions about one’s own and other cultures came up for you as you observed gender values and “gender socialization”? What did you observe about your own preconceived (culture bound) notions that may have come up during this observational study? What, if anything, surprised you about yourself or what you observed?
2. In the second full paragraph, reflect on your understanding of one’s own and other cultures’ gender socialization and child rearing techniques and how they have changed over time. How has social media contributed to this shift in society and in you?
