1. What symbols do you observe in the way the children are dressed to reinforce or neutralize boy/girl roles. How has this changed over time?

3. What might the adults be communicating about gender in their verbal/non-verbal/symbolic expressions. How has this changed over time?
4. What activities or actions do you observe that might be imprinting later gender roles and cultural attitudes. How has this changed over time?
5. How might the socialization practices you observed be communicated in other cultures and give an example, if possible. Or, in the United States within various subcultures?

1. What verbal discipline do you see or hear and be specific.
2. What physical discipline do you see or hear and be specific.
3. What adult non-verbal communication that either rewards or disapproves of behavior do you observe.
4. What nurturing of children do you observe; touch, talk.
5. What training/teaching of children do you observe: instructions, actions.

1. Please write one full paragraph about your fieldwork experience and how you own cultural norms, stereotypes, biases and assumptions about one’s own and other cultures came up for you as you observed gender values and “gender socialization”? What did you observe about your own preconceived (culture bound) notions that may have come up during this observational study? What, if anything, surprised you about yourself or what you observed?
2. In the second full paragraph, reflect on your understanding of one’s own and other cultures’ gender socialization and child rearing techniques and how they have changed over time. How has social media contributed to this shift in society and in you?
3. In the third full paragraph, identify at least one specific concept from the class materials that you can apply to the observation. Provide a citation for where it is found in the class materials, define it from our class materials, and explain how it applies
