"friendly" regimes in Eastern Europe and seemingly
equated both with the spread of Communism, regardless

Why did the Soviet Union want to spread communism
to neighboring countries?
O to limit Germany's power
O to promote peace and cooperation
O to gain new resources
to protect its territory
