Officer Jones enters Mr. Carter's home without a warrant and finds a methamphetamine lab. He also finds three hundred thousand dollars in cash, five pounds of meth, and illegal firearms.
Mr. Carter comes home and finds the police there. Officer Jones advised Mr. Carter of his rights. Mr. Carter agrees to speak to Officer Jones.
During the interrogation, Mr. Carter admits to having more meth at a storage unit.
At trial, the court throws everything seized by Officer Jones out. None of what was seized can be used against the suspect/defendant.
They also throw out Mr. Carter's confession about the storage unit. None of it can be used against him in court. Why?
