A patient is taking rizatriptan (Maxalt) for migraines. What information would you tell this patient?
1) There are no drug interactions with this medication, so it can be taken with any other medications
2) The onset is fairly rapid, and improvement in symptoms can be seen within 30 minutes of taking rizatriptan
3) This medication is exceptionally good at treating migraines, because it has the longest duration of effect compared to other 'triptans'
4) If your headache does not resolve within 12 hours, you can take another dose, and up to 8 doses a day
5) There is no advantage to the oral dissolving tablet, unless you cannot swallow medications
