05.06 Finding the Symbolism Worksheet
A good narrative will create images and emotions in the mind of the reader. In this assignment, you'll use your
knowledge of symbolism and your selected narrative text to brainstorm symbols that you would use to represent
different parts of the narrative you are reading.
Note: the symbols you come up with should be unique and based on what you think best represents each element
of the plot, not a symbol that is used in the text.

Part 2: Symbolism Scrapbook
Imagine you are making a scrapbook or mood board for your selected text. What symbols would you use to
represent the protagonist, conflict, setting, and plot of the narrative text? You may create a symbol or locate a
picture online. Include the symbol and an explanation. Remember, this should be a symbol that you come up with,
not a symbol that appears in the text already.
