You are Rahul Saini living in Mumbai. As a concerned citizen of India, write a letter to the editor of a daily, in about
100-120 words, highlighting the benefits of the "Right to Education Act
" passed by the parliament recently, and
why it should be the duty of every citizen to strengthen the hands of the government.
Situation: A large number of people in India are illiterate even after six decades
of independence - compulsory education up to fourteen years still remains a
dream - lack of political will.
Problem: An illiterate nation cannot reap the benefits of progress and change.
Poverty, unemployment and exploitation cripples the Indian economy. To
become a truly developed nation, every citizen must be educated.
What we citizens can do: Discourage child labour, motivate children to go
to school, help schools to raise funds to sponsor for the education of the poor
children.
