STUDY
Tatiana, for she was much too small. Fräulein Unbekannt spoke little
and cowered under the covers of her bed during the many
visits,
mak-
ing it difficult to ascertain her identity.
The constant stream of visitors continued, with one saying she
was Anastasia and the next declaring she was not. She was
released
from the hospital into the care of a believer. The visits
continued.
All
the while, the unknown woman firmly insisted that she was Anastasia.
She moved to the United States, married, and lived her entire
life
professing to be the Grand Duchess Anastasia. Two German courts repu-
diated her claim, nonetheless, she continued to maintain that her story
was true. Even after her death, the debate about her true identity contin-
ued. How can it be proven, one way or the other, who she really was?

WHAT RUNS IN THE FAMILY?
INTRODUCTION
Queen Victoria, who ruled for 64
years, had nine children and her family tree has been researched in
great detail. It has been a matter of great
interest for two main reasons:
many of her offspring married into the other royal
houses of Europe
producing an
extremely complex family tree,
and a curious genetic trait
appeared in the
family.
