Unit 8 Appreciation/ Gratitude
This assignment may typed and then handwritten.
Teacher/Staff Appreciation Letter:
1. Choose a special teacher and a classified staff at this school and write your own note of
appreciation. Think of a teacher, counselor, coach, or any other staff member who has
been special in helping you. It could be someone who has been there when you really
needed help or has been important to you in feeling good about yourself. Write an essay
of thanks to that person. It will become your personalized gift to them. Here is a way to
write the essay:
Start with an Introduction:
Dear
1" paragraph: Tell why you are giving this person the gift.
Include the ways your teacher helped you, your most memorable moment, the most important things they
taught you, or the qualities you love most about them. Write 2-3 sentences providing your examples. You
could write, "Every day you encouraged us to face our fears, and that's helped me feel more confident at
school

Maybe it was simply spending extra time after class to help your child work through a math
problem Tell how you feel about him/her.
2nd Paragraph: Describe some of the nice things this person had done for you, your club, your team, etc.
Your patience, kindness, and understanding have helped me grow and succeed in ways that I never
thought possible. Thank you for everything. Thank you for being more than just a teacher-you are a
friend, a mentor, and a role model! I am so grateful for everything you have done for me.
3rd Paragraph: Tell how you have been influenced by this person and perhaps how you could repay
him/her in the future. I
just want you to know that you have made a substantial impact in my life. I feel
like teachers do not get enough credit for all their hard work and influence. You truly deserve all the
praise imaginable. Thank you for being an incredible teacher, and one of the most inspiration people in
my
life today.
End with a salutation:
