In paragraph 30, Yousafzai includes battle language ("weapon of knowledge," "shield ourselves"). Why might she make this
choice?
She wants to communicate that working for girls' education will be both difficult and possibly dangerous but that it will
ultimately be successful. This also ties back to her own experience of violence.
She wants to remind her listeners that in order to conquer the Taliban, they will encounter danger. They need to protect
themselves at all costs.
She wants to remind her listeners that -- even if they don't ultimately reach their goal of educating girls and women -- they
must fight valiantly to try to achieve this goal.
She wants to encourage women to hide and protect themselves as they are being educated.
