DNA controls the functioning of the body by designing the factors that are involved in body processes. These factors, proteins, are also important biological
molecules. Through DNA, they are in control of all metabolic pathways. They make up body structure, catalyze reactions, are responsible for hormone
development, flow of nerve impulses, and in general, play a part in all life's functions. The sequence of the process of protein synthesis is:
DNA self-replication (DNA Synthesis)
DNA synthesizes RNA (Transcription)
RNA initiates protein synthesis with blueprint from DNA (Translation)
We have covered DNA synthesis (self-replication).
Your assignment is to describe the steps that are involved in protein synthesis (Translation). Read your chapter notes thoroughly. From your reading (you will
probably have to read this section two or three times), discuss (in a one page summary-250 words) the steps during Tranlation.
Be sure to include the following terms in your discussion: Transcription. Translation, mRNA, tRNA, rRNA, ribosome (30S and 50S subunits), cytoplasm, nucleus.
start codon, stop codon, anti codon, amino acids, proteins. A site, P site, polypeptide bond, and, polypeptide. You must include all of these terms in your
discussion in order to get full credit.
Note: This discussion should include a sequential, organized flow of protein synthetic activities, from start to finish.
