In order to have a properly filed union grievance, what conditions need to be met?
a. The grievant must simply contact the union steward or grievance representative.
b. A grievance is technically initiated when a meeting is held between the relevant manager, union steward and employee to discuss the situation.
c. The grievant must document the names, dates, behaviors, time and location.
d. The grievance form should list the date of a managerial action which is within the contract filing deadline, the relevant contract articles, a description of what happened and what should have happened, and a requested remedy.
e. The representatives of the employer and union must get a list of five potential arbitrators. Each side will take turns striking a name until an arbitrator is chosen.
