The Stanford Prison Experiment famously revealed that perfectly normal people can become violent monsters over a weekend given the right situation. Designed to understand Nazi behavior better, this study has been rejected lately due to a lack of consistent data. When psychological studies cannot be recreated, the original study should be considered:
