Near the beginning of Module 3, we compared both arguments for and arguments against the stakeholder model of the firm. While we determined that there is some debate among businesspeople centering around the degree of businesses' overall social responsibility as well as some subtle ethical questions, many if not most agree that business should be more socially responsible. However, dissenters still exist. All of the following are arguments commonly made against the stakeholder model of the firm, except
O businesses did not create today's social problems, so they should not be
expected to solve them.
O businesses already have enough power-they should not be given more.
O social problems should be addressed first by the free-market economic system, and then, if necessary, by government.
O businesses are not equipped to handle social activities.
