Assignment: While reading "The Battle with Grendel"
imagine that you were an actual eyewitness to the
battle and are reporting every detail because you
were there and saw everything. You may assume the
role of Beowulf, Grendel, one of Beowulf's men or
maybe King Hrothgar whose magic power allowed him to see the battle.
Describe the battle in first person, i.e. I saw when...... Remember, your eyewitness
account's audience is a 5th grader so keep the language simple and easy to
understand. Use colorful descriptive language to describe what you saw, heard,
and felt. What did you see first, then, next, and finally? What did Beowulf do?
What did Grendel do?
