Evan is an only child. He is seven, rather small for his age, and has blond curly hair that reaches his shoulders. His mother says he has never had a haircut, and she loves his hair and wishes she had hair like his. Unfortunately, many children tease him about his hair. Sometimes they call him “Evalyn” and say, “You look like a girl.”
Jeffrey, the caregiver in Evan’s group, has told Evan’s mother about the children’s teasing, but she still does not want to have Evan’s hair cut. She says that he needs to learn not to react to the teasing. She also says that a lot of the men she and Evan's father know have long hair and seem to do all right.
If you were Jeffrey, what else could you do?
