Question 5
Read the passage and answer the following question.
1
A Backyard Surprise
I was helping Mamá clean out the garage when I
noticed our dog, Rey, sniffing at something in the
grass in the backyard. The city had just cut down
several trees in the woods behind our house to make
room for a new cell phone tower, and although the
trees had been hauled away, our backyard was still
littered with broken branches and twigs.
2 At first, I thought Rey was sniffing at a branch.
Then I saw Rey spring backwards as the branch
moved its gray little ears.
3
"Mamá," I said, tapping her on the shoulder. "Rey
found something in the back yard."
