Leaders can control the internal environment. Organizational internal weaknesses and external threats do not improve by ignoring them.

Leaders must be proactive and address these issues, rather than ignoring problems with their head in the sand like an "Ostrich Manager" (Pryor, Taneja, Toombs, & White, 2010). Most employees prefer a direct manager so that they understand clearly the expectations and how to improve.

Class- do you have an example of what happens when the leader is an "ostrich" with their "head buried in the sand?
