Determination of Calcium in Milk

Procedure
Combine 5 mL of the milk sample, and 2 mL of 8M sodium hydroxide
solution and 5 ml of distilled water into an Erlenmeyer flask and allow the
solution to stand for about 10 minutes with occasional swirling.
A small amount of magnesium hydroxide may precipitate during this time.
Do not add the indicator until you have given this precipitate a chance to
form.
