France is very concerned about protecting its people, environment, and language,
and makes a lot of laws about them. Here is a sampling of French laws and
potential laws:
1. French models can't be unhealthily skinny.
2. French companies can't expect employees to read work emails on their
weekend.
3. Plastic silverware must be compostable, and supermarkets can't throw away
unsold food. They are currently considering laws that require McDonald's
restaurants to use glass cups and real silverware for any meals eaten in th
restaurant, thus requiring them to make room for dishwashers at fast food
retailers.
4. French law regulates the use of ketchup on everything except French Fries. No
handing out bottles in the school cafeteria.
5. Muslim women in France are not allowed to wear full face coverings or
"Burkinis" a muslim-approved swim suit.
6. Students in French schools are not allowed to use their cell phones except for
educational or emergency purposes.
7. Over 5,000 English words (like hash-tag) are not allowed in French schools,
government offices, or media outlets, in order to protect French language and
culture from becoming (like English) a hodge-podge of words collected from other
languages.
Pick one of these rules and write an argument for or against it.

Your argument
