It is argued, however, that in vitro studies must be conducted with pO2 closer to the physiology, because pO2 is significantly reduced when oxygen is delivered from the atmosphere to the blood and then human tissues (see Fig. 5 and Table 2 in this paper). For example, pO2 in normal liver tissues is about 40.6 mmHg (normoxia), which is about 40 times smaller than pO2 in air. Calculate the molar concentration of O2 (mol/L) in normal liver tissues (T = 37 ºC).
