Dear Dr. Lee:
Thank you for the recent referral of your patient, Mr. Nelson Hughes. As you
know, he presented with pain in the left loin, blood in his urine, and an
enlarged left kidney. IVP and other imaging tests showed a tumor 3 inches in
diameter in the center of his left kidney.
Today, Mr. Hughes underwent a laparoscopic radical nephrectomy for a
TNM Stage II renal cell carcinoma. The tumor was removed in its entirety,
with clean margins. There was no evidence of local invasion, or lymph node
involvement. Bone scan performed prior to surgery showed no metastasis. I
expect
an excellent result from his surgery and will return him to your care
as soon as I
see him postoperatively.
Thank you for this opportunity to participate in the care of your patient.
Sincerely,
Phillip Johnson, MD, F.A.C.S.
