The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry recommends:
a. using the adult DSM-5-TR criteria for bipolar disorder in children and adolescents. b. using the adult DSM-5-TR criteria for bipolar disorder in children and adolescents but modifying them to specify that the impairments must occur in at least two settings. c. using diagnostic criteria developed specifically for the diagnosis of bipolar disorder in children and adolescents. d. not diagnosing bipolar disorder at all in children and adolescents.
