¿Qué hay en una ciudad?
Task Objectives:
To describe a city: characteristics, locations of places, activities in those places, comparisons
between one city and another.
To describe activities completed in the past.
Remember the 4s on the writing rubric:
4 Superior completion of the task; content appropriate; ideas well developed and well organized.
4 Text readily comprehensible, requiring no interpretation on the part of the reader.
4 Variety of complete sentences and of cohesive devices.
4 Rich use of vocabulary.
4 Control of basic language structures.
4 Few or no errors in spelling, use of diacritical marks, punctuation, and/or capitalization.
Task Description:
Write about your city and a city you have visited. Write three well-developed paragraphs, one
that includes the descriptions listed in 1-3, one that describes what you did the last time you
visited the other city, and one that describes what someone else did when they visited your city.
First Paragraph
1. Give characteristics of your city.
2. Name at least five places in your city and specifically where they are located.
3. Make at least three comparisons (more, less, as...) between your city and the other city.
For the second and third paragraphs, use a wide variety of words/phrases that refer to the past,
places in the city, and related activities. You must include at least one example of the
PRETERITE forms of each of the following:
1. at least three regular verbs
3. the "yo" form of a -gar verb
5. a stem-changing -ir verb
7. tener
9. poder
2. the "yo" form of a -car verb
4. an-ar or -er stem-changing verb
6. the verb "ir"
8. estar
10. dar
