Cat hair has been used to connect suspects to their murder victims in multiple instances, and there is a DNA test called the MeowPlex (seriously) that identifies STR markers for domestic cats. This means that your fur baby could implicate you in a crime by leaving their meticulously groomed fur on your clothing to be transferred to a victim or left at a crime scene. (This also can be true for other animals in your life, so beware). In addition, touch DNA is advancing to the point where 15 cells collected 30 years ago now may be used to identify a suspect. In the age of this level of DNA advancement, even our pets might give us away. Is it now impossible to commit the purrfect crime? (So sorry for the pun) Think about everything that you do in a single day, and where you might leave DNA evidence to be discovered. Name at least five of them, and then describe what you could do to try to prevent leaving that evidence behind.
