Mr. CJ is a 27-year-old married male who is the father of 2 preschool-aged children was admitted after a motorcycle accident. He sustained multiple fractures of both legs and the right arm. Both his legs are in traction. The color to both lower extremities is pink with a brisk capillary refill, warm to the touch, and he can move his toes upon request.
He has a cast from his right wrist to the mid-upper arm. The patient is awake, alert, and oriented x3 but needs assistance with basic care- toileting, hygiene, and meal setup. He is cooperative but gets easily frustrated when assistance is needed. His vital signs are stable. He has requested pain medication every 4-6 hours throughout the night for pain of 9/10.
It is now 8 am and the breakfast trays have been served.
Orders: Bedrest, regular diet, Tylenol 650mg PO Q 4 hours PRN-pain, Demerol 75mg IM hours PRN- severe pain NANDA:
