The muscular system is a heavily depended upon system in emergency medical services (EMS) when it comes to the movement, transfer, and transport of patients. Despite recent advances in stretcher technology, which assists with the lifting of patients to comfortable transfer height and movement into or out of the ambulance, there are many other incidences where good musculoskeletal practices are not followed.
