Dear Principal Getty,
All students still need to be taught how to write in cursive. If only so we
can read it when we see it. Plus, cursive is often faster to write, which would
aid us during test-taking. Better scores! Also, cursive is much prettier than simple
printing. Our best writing should be read in its nicest form. Mom has been
teaching me cursive at home, and it's fun! However, not many people use cursive
anymore. Some teachers believe that teaching us how to write in cursive takes
instruction away from more important subjects and topics. Not to mention
Mr. Kay's bad handwriting. Can I be in Honors Language Arts next year?
Sincerely,
Salim Assad
