Take a look at your hand's proximal interphalangeal joint for digit 2 (or 3, 4, doesn't really matter). Flex and extend that joint through its range of motion a few times. There are essentially four sides to this joint: palmar, dorsal, ulnar, and radial. Palmar is anterior and dorsal is posterior. Because the hand has its own midline, medial/lateral can get a little weird for hand ulnar means closer to the side of the radial means closer to the side of the radius. There are ligamentous structures on all four sides of this based on motion permitted, where would you predict the strongest ligaments are located: palmar/dorsal side or ulnar/radial sides? Explain your answer.
