"What do you mean you haven't ridden the Nucleus yet?" Brett asked, his eyes lighting up with enthusiasm. Squinting in the late summer
sunlight, Corey quickly turned his head in my direction, and he took
a break from cleaning his sunglasses to offer his opinion.

"I was here the first night it opened," he said. "What are you, scared or something?"

The truth is, I was looking forward to the experience, and fear did not enter my mind when I considered the frenzy of the Nucleus roller-
coaster. Boasting five upside-down loops and even a water splash at breakneck
speed, the Nucleus had found its way to my list of top ten
things to do this summer. But school was beginning next week, and riding the Nucleus
was the last item on my list. Crossing it off the list
represented the end of my summer, and I felt a little sad about that.
"Let's get in the front," Brett proposed as we watched the group just before us take off, nervous chatter audible.
Certain that my last thrill of summer would be equally bittersweet no matter where we sat, I motioned toward the first car as it moved into
place in front of us.
In paragraph 3, Shawn wants to use a more precise word than "sad."

1. anxious
2. discouraged
3. heartbroken
4. melancholy
