Jane is Indian, she is 29 years old with a spinal cord injury. Jane is paralized from the waist down, she use both a powered and manual wheelchair.
Immediately after her accident one year ago she sufferd terrible depression at the thought of never being able to walk again or dance again.
She and her husband lived together at home with her parents. Jane has a support worker with her everyday.
Before the the accident she loved to dance and was involved in dancing competitions.
This was important to her, an she enjoyed it very much. Now she has difficulty accepting help for anything personal.
Jane needs help to go to toilet and always feels emabarrassed and upset that she is unable to do this on her own.
She does not let her husband help her he visits the disability centre twice a week in the afternoon to socialise with others in a similar situation to her to engage in activities.
The centre offers Art and Craft but she is not interested in this, but it is the only activity offered on a wednesday. On sundays she likes to go to her church.
Jane loves physical sports including ball sport.
Jane wants to be able to develop her upper-body strength.
Additionally, Jane would like to prepare meals that are different to her parents however she does not want to offend her mother who does all the cooking.
