Does the presence of popular cartoon characters on food packages influence children's food choices? A study asked 40 young children (ages four to six) to taste two small pieces of Graham crackers coming from a package with or without a popular cartoon character, and to indicate whether the two foods tasted the same or one tasted better. Unknown to the children, the crackers were the same both times. The table displays the findings.
Taste preference Number of children Percent
Without character 3 7.5
Taste the same 15 37.5
With character 22 55.0
