In this discussion you are encouraged to focus on two main components of functional assessments. When beginning an assessment you are likely to engage in Records Review. A records review is part of the indirect assessment procedure and allows clinicians to gather information related the Person's history and current concerns. Whenever we (i.e., professionals) are engaging with families about current or historical concerns we MUST participate in respectful ways. Objectives Identify relevant sources of information in records (e.g., educational, medical, historical) at the outset of the case. Identify and integrate relevant cultural variables in the assessment process.
