Belle is trying to persuade her school administration to
retain extracurricular art programs. This is a draft of her
letter to the school administration board.
(1) There are many things a kid takes away from school
besides education. (2) I am talking about the memories I
have created with my friends, the friendships I have made,
and the adventures I have done outside of class. (3)
Creating the Free Art Club was the highlight of my sixth
grade career. (4) I remember being inspired to start an
organization where students were free to create music, art,
paintings, and anything to express themselves. (5) For the
first time in my life, I was a leader.
(6) Do you remember the mural my friends from the Free
Art Club created in the community center? (7) We received
so much attention from the press. (8) The city's mayor even
gave our school an extra grant for art programs, including
the Free Art Club that created the mural.
(9) When the schools decided to cut the art program,
many students-including me-were disappointed. (10) To
make the matters worse, the school has asked all seniors
to stop any participation in extracurricular activities and to
only focus on academics. (11) The school administration
has failed to consider the fact that students focus better on
studies when they are refreshed.
