The winch should be able to lift a maximum pay load of 5,000kg at a maximum speed of 10m/min. The power unit will be an integral part of the system and length of pipework will be negligible. The winch is to have variable speeds ranging from 2m/min to 10m/min. The winch may be subjected to impulse loads (use a SF of 2). The winch will be operated locally and will have mecahanical braking system that is released and actuated by the same hydraulic system.
