Horizontally layered landscapes as beneficial and/or obstacle to human activities STEP 1: FORMULATING A HYPOTHESIS/PROBLEM STATEMENT. (5 MARKS) • Name of specific area of study • Identify the problem from the local area. • Formulate a problem statement. STEP 2: MAPPING (10 MARKS) Provide the most recent map of the study area. Note: create a buffer zone around the area where the geographical problem exists. The map should have a clear key and be drawn to scale STEP 3: BACKGROUND INFORMATION (15 MARKS) • Explain where in South Africa is the study area located. Exact position in terms of coordinates • Relevant Information about the study area such as climate and weather • Relevant information about the topic (Mesa, Butte or conical hill) STEP 4: METHODS OF DATA COLLECTION (USE AT LEAST 3 SOURCES) (20 MARKS) NB: Each source used will be allocated marks depending on the validity and relevancy of the information. Present y original and realistic opinions as far as you possibly can. STEP 7: CONCLUSION (5 MARKS) Accept or reject the hypothesis and support your standpoint with valid reasons STEP 8: BIBLIOGRAPHY (5 MARKS) • Compile a bibliography. • List the sources you used to help compile the research. E.g websites, books People you interviewed. STEP 9: SUBMISSION AND COVER PAGE (5 MARKS) Include any extra annexture you used. Include graphs, diagrams and picture. • Cover page should have the image of the study area. • Table of contents should have corresponding page numbers.
