this is my outline: Introduction

Thesis statement: The topic of Abraham Lincolns Inaugural Address has effected my country in various ways. The main way has to be his speech on Slavery.
Purpose of the paper: The purpose of the paper is to give my opinion on said matter. My opinion about the Inaugural Address is that he hit a lot of key points about slavery, but he also showed how he didn't want to abolish slavery, but ban it from new places and decrease it as much as he could.

Body Paragraph 1

First I will talk about Abraham Lincoln and Slavery.
In my opinion, he hit on a lot of key points, but it is upsetting how he ending up with a message of him not trying to fully abolish slavery, but just decrease it.
It says here, "Although Lincoln personally abhorred slavery, he felt confined by his constitutional authority as president to challenge slavery only in the context of necessary war measures. He also worried about the reactions of those in the loyal border states where slavery was still legal." - Library of Congress. This shows that he was not trying to fully abolish slavery since he felt he didnt want people to feel like he was betraying them or have them end up leaving.
Body Paragraph 2

Next I will talk about Abraham Lincolns letter to James T. Hale.
I like that this letter is about freeing someone, but I don't know about why he was in prison in the first place.
"Today In The Civil War- James T. Hale letter to Abraham Lincoln." This is where I got my information and was able to learn about this letter.
