The Book Review Assignment gives you the opportunity to summarize and analyze an important source you will read during the course. INSTRUCTIONS When writing a book review, the reviewer should accomplish two goals:
1) the review should provide a brief synopsis of the book's content
2) the review should set forth a critical commentary and evaluation of the book.

The following instructions will further aid you in writing a good book review:
1. Choose a book from the list in the Book Review Resources on the assignment page. Take brief notes as you read. They will help you recall the content when you write your review.
2. At the top of the first page, you should place a full bibliographical citation using this format:

Lincoln: A Very Short Introduction. By Allen C. Guelzo.
Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2009.
