Assignment Instructions 1. Go through Earth's Atmosphere and Life Over Time. [Image by MGH Biology Interactives/SEM Media (n.d.) Earth's atmosphere and life over time] 2. Explore the bigger picture of life over time by selecting the Life Over Time tab in the lower panel. Drag the Time Scale from 5,000 Years to 5 Billion Years, and note the emergence of different organisms. 3. Explore Geological Events. Note there aren't any significant geological events during some periods of the Time Scale. 4. Explore Biological Events over time. 5. Examine the upper graph. Note the two y-axes show levels of carbon dioxide and oxygen in the atmosphere. Determine the carbon dioxide and oxygen levels during the time periods of the three tabs: Life Over Time, Geological Events, and Biological Events. Requirements Answer the following questions: Are there any connections between the events and the changing levels of CO2 and O2 in the atmosphere? Explain your answer. o With Life Over Time Tab active and the "time scale" at 500 mya, explain the difference in the CO₂ and O₂ concentrations for the period between 350 mya and 250 mya.
