The healthcare system is made up of imperfect people who do their best to treat patients. Unfortunately, accidents can occur. In fact, according to the World Health Organization, 1 in 10 patients worldwide is harmed while receiving hospital care. Many of these cases fall into three areas of error: medication error, surgical error, or hospital-acquired infection.

Search online to see if you can find a case that relates to one of these types of errors. Explain the situation, what caused the error, and what the result for the patient was. Then suggest at least one policy that could be used to prevent this type of error from happening again.
