On Our Way
With the peal of the last piano note, Mr. Jordan signaled
the end of the song with his conducting baton. The entire
choir fell silent and remained still on the stands. The
members were attending their last rehearsal before the
national competition, and they had finally made it through
a pristine practice. Everyone, including Mr. Jordan, was
relieved that they had accomplished what they had
thought was impossible just a few months before.
"Okay, we finally had a clean performance today, and it
happened just in the nick of time. In three days, we are
supposed to head out to national competition. However,
we are still lacking over $500, so I don't know how we're
going to raise that amount of money in time," Mr. Jordan
announced.
The choir members shuffled their feet. This problem
had haunted them from the moment they had received the
news of their qualification. Unlike the other qualified choir
groups in the nation, their choir did not have parental help.
