Juniper Kiwifruit is a orchard and packhouse in the North Island of New Zealand. They have a packhouse manager, Dom, who overseas the day - to - day operations in the packhouse. The workplace is usually relaxed during off season, but gets fast paced and busy during the picking and packing season when they see in an increase in staff of at least 100 people. Some days, packhouse staff works until midnight just to get the fruit packed. The owners are approachable, but hard to find. Dom, is always there, but is strict and inflexible. Dom has been with Juniper Kiwifruit for 18 years and runs an organised and regimented operation in the packhouse. Altough happy to train people, he clearly has favorites and puts them in desireble roles. He's good at scheduling and filling roles. Most people don't feel comfortabl asking him qeustions. Dom is bale to keep a cool head even in conflict situations. Dom tries to treat all employees equally. He always has a smile on his face. The packing line has slowed down and Dom needs address this. Dom has decided to call a meeting and is half sitting on the kitchen bench when they arrive. Some employees seems schocked by the act. Dom announces that he will be giving them production targets for each day. Rawiri, a packhouse worker has returned from an motorcycle accident with the use of only one leg. Rawiri has worked their for 8 years and have been the teams most efficient packer. Rawiri quits his job two days after Dom announces the performance targets. Friendds on the packhouse line knows it is because of Dom's lack of consideration for Rawiri's disability. They are worried for their own jobs in the case they get injured or sick. Three RSE workers are returning home because the new requirments are far more than expectedand cant keep up .
