Often our problems seem so severe we feel we are at the end of our rope. We find ourselves in a dead-end, in a box canyon, and can see no way out. However, there are no true dead ends; there are always options. For example, let's look at Gary. Gary lived in a big city with pollution and noise. He worked for the power company. He caught his wife cheating on him and went through a messy divorce. He felt hopeless and fatigued. He couldn't sleep well. He lost interest in things and started losing weight. One day his eye caught an ad from a rural power company looking for a person with his qualifications. Gary next found himself in a small town in the mountains. He paid cash for a small, well-built home on ten acres. His drinking water came from a pure mountain spring. The summer days were warm and the nights were cool. Winter brought a blanket of brilliant white snow. He was snug and comfortable. Nights brought an explosion of stars with the city lights twinkling below. His dog was free to chase deer. One morning after a good breakfast, Gary went outside and breathed in the cool, clean air, beat his chest, and yelled out loud, "I love this place!" He had his first date with a divorcee from town. Life was peaceful and good.
How did Gary get out of his dead end?
