Dissolving ionic compounds can either release heat or absorb heat. Imagine that you are a scientist working in a lab and you stumbled upon a series of aqueous solutions of ionic compounds that either get cold or hot as the compound dissolves. You think these processes could be very useful if you could figure out a way to control the amount of heat that is released or absorbed. You realize that you need to understand the processes better. So, you decide to further investigate them, with the hope of making better hand warmers and cold packs.
For this discussion you need to brainstorm and determine a relevant question to further investigate the process. You will need to develop an investigative question to examine either the cold pack or the hand warmer. Be creative and consider any variable that may be tested using these hot and cold packs. Your question should be worded so that it can be answered with experimentation because you will also be providing an experimental design to investigate your question. Each student's question should be unique, so try to think outside the box when considering variables to test.
In you initial post, include:
1. The Question that you are going to answer through experimentation.
2. A detailed, step by step, experimental design for testing your question.
