Lilly was so nervous about going back to college. She had dreamed about becoming a nurse since she was in high school. She dropped out after her first term of college, to start her family. Also, she never liked school much because she was bullied in high school. However, ten years later, she decided to go to GMC to pursue her degree in pre-nursing. Due to her age, she is worried that the other students will be younger and make fun of her for being old.Her first day of school was hectic because she had to take care of her two children (who refused to get up) and drop them off at their school. Lilly’s morning was so chaotic that she forgot to brush her hair and accidentally spilled coffee on her shirt and pants while driving. As soon as Lilly started to walk down the hall, she saw a group of young college students standing around, laughing, and pointing at her clothes. Obviously, they reached an incorrect inference. Lilly knew they were making fun of her. Flashes of high school came back into her mind, and she didn't want to go to class. As a grown-up, she knew she had to ignore them, but she didn't like it when they followed her into the class. So to make her day worse, it turns out the students who laughed at her were her classmates. Lilly felt alone and ashamed. She wanted to go home and quit school before she even started.
How would you feel if you were in Lilly’s shoes?
