The United States has a relatively high proportion of people who’ve earned a college degree – approximately 32-35% of the adult population. A sobering statistic is that only 1 in 5 Community College students transfer to a 4-year university. There are many barriers which can prevent students from completing their educational goal – those barriers could be structural (money), circumstantial or personal.

Do a bit of research online to find out why students may not enroll in college to begin with, or simply give up once they’ve enrolled and have completed a few classes? What did you learn from your research? Provide all or any links where your information is coming from.
Feel free to include a personal reason of yours based on experience, a relative or friend regarding challenges in completing a college degree, or reasons why college may not be the most attractive option. This should not be sole content of your discussion – in other words, this should be the shortest part of your discussion if you choose to add a personal story.
