Several factors are at work in America's chaotic politics. But the deepest crisis, in my view, is political -- the failure of America's political institutions to "promote the common good" as promised by the CONSTITUTION. For 40 years, American politics has been an insider's game, favoring the super-rich and corporate lobbies at the expense of the vast majority of its citizens.
