write a response to this discussion postMy overall reaction to these three videos is that it is such a sad story but has a happy ending. No human should live in the conditions that they found her in. I was glad to see that she is doing well for how badly she was treated before.
These videos illustrate the importance of socialization and the role of a family by showing extreme examples of child neglect. In these very extreme examples, the children were left with no speaking ability or communication skills. Even children who do not experience this extreme of neglect experience similar issues, making things later in life much more difficult.
The adoptive parents of Dani were able to resocialize her by assisting her with ways of communicating through hand signals or movements and some phrases. They also got Dani into school around people her age to resocialize her.
The concept of micro-level social structures in groups can be connected to these films. When these children were isolated, they weren't able to conform to aspects of a group, compared to children who grew in a healthy household they were able to conform to the aspects of their family (group). Also, from the first video they briefly spoke about a kid who grew up with dogs instead of humans and the kid took after the behaviors of the group of dogs (2008 Opera Feral Child.)
